South Warwickshire Electric Flyers were formed in April 2007 and officially started flying as a club from our present site on 5th May 2007. We have a prepared field situated in open farmland consisting of 2 wide runways in the form of a letter L, consequently we can cope with any wind direction with the minimum of disruption. The field drains well and although in its infancy it is more than adequate for all types and scales of aircraft. In the coming months we intend to level it even further, the eventual aim to be a bowling green surface for 2008.

We have a caravan on site for members use which has cooking facilities and fresh water, together with solar panel charged batteries for recharging flight packs.

We are open for flying every day all year round and we cater for everything electric from shockies through the whole range including helicopters and soarers. We are affiliated to the BMFA and we have our own instructors and examiners, so if you can’t fly we can train you to BMFA standards.

At the present, the most popular time to find someone flying seems to be Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings but as we increase in membership this will no doubt change.

We have negotiated a six and a half year lease on our site at the present time with an option for renewing at a later date. Consequently we have a fair idea of what our costs are going to be over this period giving us a unique opportunity to be able to keep fees stable and at the same time allow us to build up a reserve for site and club improvements. We currently have no joining fee and membership fees for 2008 are £40.
